Erin May Thompson is a contemporary artist currently working out of Philadelphia, PA. She earned her BFA degree in Sculpture from the Maine College of Art. Her studio practice covers a wide range of material and medium, including performance, video, sound, and installation. Erin May's fervent interest in art and new media has made it possible for her to be a part of several collaborations, including Harrell Fletcher's Learning to Love You More, which first exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Portland, ME and in 2004 showed at the Whitney Biennial in New York, NY. Her collaborative efforts also led her to co-curating a sound exhibition, Showered in Sound, at SPACE Gallery in Portland, as well as performing with Kenneth Deprez (as Simone's Egg) at In My Backyard 4 in Yarmouth, ME. Since moving from Maine to Philadelphia, Erin May has shown in the Eleventh International Exhibition of Women's Art at SOHO20 Chelsea Gallery in New York, and has participated in several group exhibitions in Maine and in Pennsylvania, including the traveling exhibit Big Art Show and MYX's Surcle Gallery. Currently she is working on the establishment of her clothing business, EIGHTEES BABY Design Company, which is based in Philadelphia. Erin May also continues to circulate a mail-art project she started in 2004, called The Postcard Project. Images from Erin May's various projects can be found here on this website.
